Karen Kalisek's Top 20 Things To Help (6-10)
.Drop off a sack of groceries at the door step of those you may not even know, but you suspect are experiencing hard times. Do this when no one is around.
.If a coworker’s little ones are growing out of their shoes, invite them for ice cream and return them home with new shoes!
.Offer to drive their children to functions. It takes gas to play Taxi Mom.
.If it’s Suzy’s turn to provide snacks for the team or whatever, call Suzy’s mom and tell her you have all these left overs from a party, etc. and you hate they are going to waste. Ask her if it would be alright with her if YOU brought snacks. Ask if you could drop them off at Suzy’s house. No one has to know where the snacks came from. Snacks cost money and Suzy’s mom doesn’t want to let Suzy down.
.When you see a mom in front of you in the grocery line and she is digging for change for milk, BUY THE MILK! If she is putting things back because she doesn’t have enough money, tell her it would be your honor if she would allow you to help out. Explain briefly you have been there yourself. Or, just hand her a $20 and say, “I think you dropped this.” PAY IT FORWARD.
