Sharing ideas to help families, neighbours, communities & yourself
by Andrew on January 14, 2009

Our family, when faced with another family’s misfortune, offers food and comfort; for example: When a friend who is the only income-earner for his family was laid off, my family made lasagna for their family – we took over 2 large pans that they could eat when they chose, or freeze. We have also shared this seasons cannings with them, and some produce from our orchard. They have a wood stove, so this winter, should they need it, we will also share firewood with them. Our church has a very well organized welfare system, but it stems from treating every member as family – you do what you can to help family out. It’s often in material or edible goods, rather than monetary, but monetary assistance has been known, as well.
