Seven Ways To Help Your Community From Susan Banitt
by Andrew on January 14, 2009
1) Buy locally
2) Hire as often as you can for odd jobs
3) Build community by having parties, potlucks, celebrating holidays, block parties, movie nights etc
4) Check in on your elderly, disabled neighbors
5) Do one good thing for a stranger every day (if only a friendly smile and longer than usual conversation)
6) Radiate goodwill and patience to the people around you
7) (if you are a parent) Offer your home more often for playdates, study hall; maybe a working or unemployed parent needs a break or needs to go to a class or a government office
